The blue bell is a very powerful weapon, but it is only good for one screen of enemies. Unless you read Japanese, you will have a hard time figuring out what your ship is saying! Silver Bells, Silver Bells! They give you the power of the wacky weapon that fires letters at your persistent enemy pests. From the bells to the tiny critters, it is cute fun. Additions, like missiles with feet, some scaling and rotation and a jolting ending will keep you on your toes.įor a great deal of enjoyment and challenge on the Turbo, pick up this Japanese title, if possible. While most shooters have you decimate everything in your path, Konami has added a cute theme that takes you away from the norm. The game itself is a bundle of pure laughter for anyone who plays. Parodius is the newest development in shooters, and it is hot stuff! With 8 Megs of pure power, limited flicker and no slowdown, this card goes where no other has gone before. Also, with a company like Konami creating it, this system has all ear marks of being a success. This is the first 8 Meg title for the PC, so you probably already know that it is phenomenal. Well worth the trouble of figuring out the amazing X68000 core.In this game, there is so much to talk about it is hard to decide where to begin. The PC and X68000 versions can be freely downloaded here: I agree completely! Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius on SNES is amazing.Īlso worth mentioning are the amazing Gradius ports on the X68000 core I personally like the PC-Engine version of Gradius the best, but the X68000 version is really close to it's arcade counterpart.Īnd speaking of X68000 Cho Ren Sha 68K is an impressive (doujin/ homemade) shmup that deserves more players. Oh, and there's also the first Parodius game, on the MSX, which is alright, too. The PS versions are also really great, and basically arcade perfect. So many posts, and not a single mention of Parodius, the undisputed absolute best shmup ever?Īll of these games except Jikkyou were originally arcade games, but the SNES versions of all those games are my personal favorite versions.
